Michael Gove’s English Baccalaureate Certificate Announcement

It is important to recognise that exact meaning of Michael Gove’s “EBacc Announcement” this morning; the climb down on plans refers to the two tiered system of qualifications that would have first had an impact on the current Year 7s; in terms of the advice that we have offered about considering an EBacc that remains unchanged in terms of it representing a measure of a broad and balanced curriculum, and therefore Gove’s announcement should have no impact on your current decision making process. I appreciate the timing of the announcement is unhelpful, and the language that is used is confusing, but please try to remember the guiding mantra of taking subjects that students enjoy and will excel at. I hope this gives a little clarity from CNS’ perspective, but please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.
