The CNS House Leaders will be holding a ‘Starting KS4 Evening’ for Parents of Year 10 Students in the Arc on Wednesday 12th September at 5:30. The evening is aimed at ensuring that you are informed about what your child will experience over the next two years whilst studying for their GCSEs at CNS.

Information on each subject including deadlines and suggested reading materials will be provided on the evening plus there will be the opportunity to meet with your child’s House Leader, Deputy House Leader and/or Pastoral Manager over a coffee or cup of tea to discuss any specific needs or issues.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Message from Mr Nixon

Welcome back to everyone.  We look forward to an excellent year ahead of us.

You may be aware that the school had a ‘Maths Subject Inspection’ last term and we were pleased to be judged ‘Good’.   The report highlighted that achievement has risen considerably over the last 3 years and the quality of teaching was also good.  It’s clearly something that we can build on for the future.  In addition, we had excellent A Level results and our best ever GCSE results.  The latter, despite the impact of the English grade boundary changes which has been in all the papers.

I mentioned in my statement to the press that the overall GCSE grades of 80% were particularly pleasing given that our curriculum is based on rigours’ GCSE’s.  The rise in A*-C’s in English and Maths was also very pleasing.  These achievements came about through the hard work of everyone. My thanks to the students, parents, staff and Governors for their contribution.

We welcome the new Year 7’S to our school this year, which as usual, is oversubscribed.  There is however, still much to do in order to improve further, so that we continue to improve this year.

Jim Nixon
