The head boy and girl of each house are be responsible for feeding back to each house their credit totals during assemblies and enthusing students to gain more credits. They are also helping organise house events such as the very recent charities week and sports day. Other potential duties will be explored during the first year of the role.
It has been a demanding and stressful process for the candidates; interviews with SLT and giving speeches in assemblies have placed a lot of pressure upon them, testing their confidence and public-speaking skills beyond what they’ve expected.
It is a great achievement and they are incredibly excited to be head boys and girls, so please pass on your congratulations.
And a massive thanks for all their hard work so far in helping organise and leading activities in charities week!
I look forwards to seeing what more you are capable of in the future months.
Many thanks,
Michelle Gray
Message from Mr Nixon
A great deal has taken place this term and there have been a number of highlights. The detailed surveys completed by staff, parents and students (results of the student surveys are out after Christmas). It was very pleasing to note the strengths and the areas we need to develop and improve which were already part of our plans. The CNS lesson is now central to our teaching and learning plans and the staff development day on the 3rd January is yet another step forward in this crucial area.
You can go through the news to see some of our highlights from this term, but from a personal point of view two in particular come to mind. The performance of our students in a national competition (Kid’s Lit Quiz) where they came third having won their heats in Norfolk was just quite stunning; a real credit to everyone involved. On reflection, I think it was the quality of the competition and the focus (literature) that has impressed me so much. I had lunch with the students and staff involved where they talked me through their experiences up against some of the top schools in England – to come third was quite an achievement. My other highlight was the concert. What a privilege it was to be able to sit and enjoy such a high standard of musicianship. Orchestras, choirs, jazz bands, guitar groups, ensembles – it was nothing short of awesome.
In closing, I hope everyone has an excellent holiday. My thanks to you all for your support this term and I look forward to an extremely busy and rewarding Spring term - students return on Wednesday 4th January.
